Hi Joe,
Thank you for your response regarding the following two diamonds, i.e.GIA report number: 1297316472 or GIA report number: 6311536400
ANSWER: “The 1.30 F VS1 is better than the 1.27 F VS1 because it has a clean table. The 1.27 F VS1 is a low VS1 because of the black crystals in the middle of the table.”
However the 1.27 diamond has an HCA score of 1.6 whereas the 1.3 diamond has an HCA of 2.7
Is this also significant in choosing one of these diamonds?
No, it’s not because no one outside of Pricescope uses the HCA. It’s a blackbox algorithm that predates the GIA and AGS cut grades. The HCA has a bias for shallow diamonds (note how the table > depth for the 1.27).
For comparison, look at the True Hearts AGS 0 Ideals or any other site’s premium cuts. I think you’ll see that the 1.30 F VS1 looks much more like them than the 1.27 F VS1. The arrows are for the 1.30 are darker, better defined, spaced better, and there’s less of a table reflection (the size of the 8 pointed star that the arrows radiate from). The 1.3 F VS1 is a much better choice.
