Hi Joe – Thanks so much for all your great advice on this site, it’s been super helpful in my search. I’m looking at ideal round-cut JA lab diamonds >1 ct, G color or better, VS2 clarity or better, and under $2800 – do you have an opinion on which of these two diamonds is the better pick (or if neither, another suggestion I should consider)? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.10-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-7586502 https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.01-carat-e-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-7735703 Thank you!!!
I like the 1.10 E VS1 more. It’s bigger and avoids the black crystal in the 1.01 E VS2. Although the black crystal in the 1.01 E VS2 is probably eye-clean, might as well go a bit bigger and not consider the crystal if you’re comfortable with the 1.10 E VS1.
I think you could meet somewhere in between – save a bit of money with lower carats, keep the higher clarity of the 1.10 E VS1. The 1.04 E VS1 is only 0-07-0.08mm smaller in diameter than the 1.10 E VS1 and the 1.08 E VS1 is only 0.02-0.03mm smaller, so I think the savings are worth it.
