Should I keep this diamond?

Hi Joe,

I purchased this diamond before I found your site. Is there a better option in this price range or should I keep it? I don’t want to sacrifice carats and im willing to pay more for a larger stone.

Hi James,

I think this a low H on the color scale – it’s been overgraded due to the strong fluorescence. If you’re fine with the color and fluorescence, then I think it’d be fine.

The option below is the same carat weight with similar proportions (and a tiny big bigger diameter). I think it improves the color with no fluorescence. I think it’d be eye-clean – the setter would likely cover the cloud at 11 o’clock and leave the feather at 1 o’clock uncovered. But it could be the other way around, they’d have to evaluate the diamond.

Thanks for your message. After receiving the diamond, I do feel the color was darker than I liked from certain angles and your message confirms my suspicions.

Looking at the diamond you showed me, it is noticeably whiter from the picture even though it is only one grade higher. The similar pricing also leads me to believe I didn’t get as good of a deal as I thought.
