Thanks for creating this site/tool. It has been such a great resource for getting educated on diamonds, as well as trying to find the right stone. I’ve been looking through the Q&A, and notice that there’s a lot of talk about potential other color/hue of diamonds. Maybe I’m being too simplistic, but would the diamond screener tool already screen for it? (realizing that there is an option for non-blue hue).
Short of linking all the diamonds from the tool, here are just a few that I’m looking through. Is the brown hue you speak of just noticed from the photos? From the list below, or any other on screen/tool, is there an ideal diamond you’d recommend in the ~ 1.5 ct size (lab-grown)?

James Allen mostly sells HPHT diamonds, so brown CVD isn’t as big of an issue for JA as it is for other vendors. JA’s brown CVD diamonds are more commonly found in larger H/G/F color diamonds, so going with D/E means there’s less chance you will encounter them. For instance, none of the diamonds you’ve listed here show any characteristic CVD strain. None have a brown hue.
But yes, you would ordinarily check for brown from the picture. I use computer vision to screen for blue hue HPHT, which is what that selector is for. Brown is much harder to screen for algorithmically because it’s not a distinct hue in any color space – it’s a composite color.
These diamonds are all nice and will be eye-clean, but they do have small black flux inclusions that I try to avoid (especially since you’re not lacking for options at this price). You might consider the 1.52 E VS2 below. It has a lower clarity grade, but no black inclusions and it saves money. If VS1 is a requirement, then I liked the 1.58 E VS1 for about the price of the 1.5 E VS1’s you found. And then if you don’t mind an eye-clean black inclusion, then I would consider the 1.77 E SI1.

Thanks for the response. The 1.58 would have been perfect but unfortunately it’s already gone. What do you think of these? They don’t seem to have black inclusions but my eye isn’t used to looking out for them..
