What is the difference between a true heart certified diamond as compared to other diamonds with an “excellent” cut? It seems to me that the diamonds are not near the cost-efficient frontier line?
I’m look for a diamond around $2-3k, not smaller than .7 carats.
When I compare 0.70 CARAT F-VS2 TRUE HEARTSTM IDEAL DIAMOND to 0.70 CARAT F-VS2 EXCELLENT CUT ROUND DIAMOND, why would I choose a true hearts diamond for an extra $500?
Bonus question: within that range ($2-3k, not smaller than .7 carats), what would your recommendation be within that range, assuming the general norms of above VS2 and H (ish).
Hi Zach,
True Hearts is James Allen’s branded line of AGS 0 Ideal diamonds. They’re nice, but you should be able to find similarly well-cut GIA EX/AGS 0 Ideal diamonds without paying the branding premium. So I don’t think the True Hearts is worth the extra $500 compared to the F VS2 you found.
You might consider the options below. The 0.7 G SI1 would save you a little money. The two 0.7 D SI1’s would be about the same price as the 0.7 F VS2, but I think it’s better to trade one clarity grade to max out to an icy-white D. And then if you strictly want a VS2+, then the 0.7 D VS2 would match your criteria too.
Best,
Joe

Thanks so much! I changed my criteria a bit, but I think I am planning on going with 0.59 Carat F VS1 Round Excellent SKU: 6538097. Does that seem like a solid choice to keep things around $2000?
Yes, looks like a nice choice.
(forget to mention, this is all with a round cut diamond as well)
