Hi Joe-
Great website.
I’m looking for a round diamond, 1.5+ ct, VS2, eye clean.
I think I will be having it set in this in yellow gold: https://ajaffe.com/engagement-rings/statement-round-quilted-engagement-ring
Through your website, I have looked at the following.
Could you provide some commentary on these and also let me know if there are alternative diamonds that would be a better choice?
Other questions:
Are the diamonds that are not on the efficient frontier usually more expensive for a reason? And do you do any analysis of diamonds on clean origin? Prices seem to be lower there.
Thank you,
James

The 1.59 E VS2 is a blue E. Maybe something was off with the camera, but the 1.58 D VS2 just doesn’t look sharp. The 1.56 D VS2 shows as unavailable.
I like the optical symmetry of the 1.54 D VS2 and 1.51 D VS2 more than the 1.60 D VS2. They pop more to me. And then I’d probably lean towards the 1.51 D VS2 with a prong by those inclusions. But the 1.54 D VS2 and 1.51 D VS2 are close.
I think you got most of the options they have right now. The other one I saw is the 1.52 E VS2 below. It has a similar spread as the 1.60 D VS2 and the black inclusion can be put under a prong. It has a slightly bigger table to reach that spread, but still AGS 0 Ideal.

The crystal (and it’s reflections) are 0.08×0.25mm in real size terms; less than the width of a human hair. A prong can be placed on the upper girdle facets where the inclusions are; it will definitely cover the 3 closest to the edge and help obscure the rest. I think it’d be eye-clean.
Dear Joe,
Thanks for the response. Would the inclusion on the 1.51 be visible to the naked eye? And is it easy to hide under a prong?
Thank you,
James
