In a round cut diamond, what table percentage is considered ideal, I can find information on crown and pavilion angles, but not on table %. Like I said, what is considered to be the ideal number, or is there a general guideline to go by?
For instance, I have looked at two stones with nearly identical pavilion and crown angles but differing table %
Diamond 1: Crown 34.6 Pavilion 40.7. Table % 56.3
Diamond 2: Crown 34.7 Pavillion 40.8 Table % 55.9
A 56.3 table and a 55.9% table are the same. They would both be rounded to 56% on a GIA grading report.
I wouldn’t consider a table range in isolation, as table, crown angle, and pavilion angle all work together to specify a diamond’s proportions. You can find AGS 0 Ideal proportions for all table sizes. However, I prefer 55-60. I think 61 gets too big and limits the proportions that qualify as GIA EX/AGS 0 Ideal. And I think 54 is too small.
